Hey
folks,
Wanna put it up here since I'm putting it in Facebook too. I'm selling my old Eagle Bus the Drag N Fly. A 40 foot 1975 Eagle with a reman-ed 6v92 with 2 years left on the warranty, new generator and rear end. Too many new things to list here. Here are some pics. If interested email me at daletxwatson@sbcglobal.net Sale price $55,000. First to come with cash takes her home. ![]() Howdy Folks, mighty long time since I wrote y'all here. Seems FaceBook has been the main means of updating lately, but I'll try to change that by updating here more often. First of course is the new CD The Sun Sessions. It's available here or the usual suspects, Amazon and itunes. I have made a video for every song on the CD which can be seen on youtube and will surely be available for purchase as a dvd in a short while. I'm very proud of Sean Lane who directed and produced all 14 videos including the Tiger Airways Video that went viral earlier this year. I think you will agree when you see the wide variety of visuals that Sean has put together to compliment the songs. At this writing, I am preparing to take the Texas Two to Portland Oregon for The River City Music Festival January 6 and 7. Please tell everyone in that area if you can. It's the only trip there in over a year, maybe two. Immediately after that I take the Texas Two to Europe and Scandinavia for a 3 week tour and you can meet my European Road Manager ( and webmaster) Frank Van Velzen. These are the only shows of me and the Texas Two so it will be a rare and limited showcasing. Lastly, I am taking time from February 27 to May 13th to perform in a Steven King/ John Mellencamp play in Atlanta Georgia at the Alliance Theatre called The Ghost Brothers Of Darkland County. For most of the plays run I am the Zydeco Cowboy , a small , but fun part. At least one day I will play the lead role of Joe. I want to encourage anyone who can to buy tickets for that day and come out and help me with some moral support. It's my first foray into theater and I could use some good ol friends out there cheering me on. That day I am told is.... TUESDAY - APRIL 17TH , 2012 !! Please mark it on your calendar if at all possible you can come to that showing. The last day I play in Austin before I leave will be FEBRUARY 25TH at The Broken Spoke. That will be a helluva party!!!! I do plan on trying to form some Atlanta and surrounding area shows for a couple of Mondays the play is dark, but I will surely post that here on the website, so please check in sometimes. I'll try to be better at the updates. Thank you all for such an honor of having fans and friends like you to count on and being here to share this wild ride called life. God Bless all y'all, Dale

DANCE FLOOR WITH DALE WATSON Dont Miss the Terlingua Two Step on Tuesday, November 15th Its time for some country tunes and boot scootin in true Texas fashion. In keeping with our recent tradition of showcasing notable Texan musicians, the evenings entertainment will feature the music of Dale Watson, a devotee of old-style honky tonk and Bakersfield country who, according to The Washington Post, writes songs that would not sound out of place on one of Johnny Cashs best albums... in a voice that rings make that rumbles with conviction". Been a long time since an update
and this is the first newsletter
since having the new sign up link.
First thing, please welcome the
newest Lone Star to the
A very
special thank you goes out to the folks
at Nuss Mack Truck up in Sauk Rapids,
Mn. For the second time they have saved
us with their kindness. 25 below
temperature took a toll on the bus air
system. These guys are the best and has
us up and running in time for the next
show. Rollie was a great help as well. band,
Kurt Baumer on the fiddle. I've
written some info about Kurt on the
site already. Second, thanks to all
the great folks that made the
january tour so much fun. From
Illinois to Wisconsin, Minnesota to
Missouri and Oklahoma back to Texas,
the shows were really well attended
and just a blast. As you can see,
obviously we were well cared for
everywhere we went.We played Oneida Casino again, first time in a long time and it was especially fun doing the show with fellow Texans Heybale. You may have heard me and Redd Volkeart had an axe battle of sorts. It's always an education when redd gets on the stage. We come back to Oneida in June.
Louie at Lee's Liquor Lounge is
still keepin' on. Yall folks up that way
please keep your ear to the ground for
Louie, as the city of Minneapolis is
still trying to take his parking lot
that he owns outright. Any letter you
can write to the city council or to the
City Pages on his behalf would really
help. Please go by and say Hi to Louie
for me. He means a great deal to me.
The Carryin' On record fell short
this past year as the record company E1
closed it's country division a month
after the record came out. Luckily I
have it on a European label as well that
still has an interest in keeping it out
there. Yall know me though, and I keep
on a rollin'. Honky Tonkers Don't Cry so
I went into the lengendary Sun Studios
and recorded another CD. It is done in
the Tennesee Two vein, I guess more like
the Texas Two, haha . Though it's
already finished , I still have some EQ
work to do on it and expect it to be out
in June or early July.
Here in Austin Texas I am still doing my
regular shows and even added another
residency.
![]() Monday nights -The Continental Club from 10pm to 1:30am ![]() Thursday nights - Swang Thang with my Honky Tonk Horn Section at The Highball 8pm to 11pm ![]() Sunday afternoons- Chicken $#!% Bingo at Ginny's Little Longhorn 4pm to 8pm ![]() As of this moment there are no concrete plans for European shows but there are some negotiations in that regard. There is also current negotiations for a brief Australian tour to happen this year. I know we are doing festivals all over the USA this Summer and into Fall so check in on the tour dates or twitter for any shows near you.
A few years ago Zalman King produced
a documentary on an episode of my life
called " Crazy Again". Many folks have
asked over the years how to get a copy.
Now it is available on Amazon.com as a
rental instant view or to buy. This
documentary deals with a dark time in my
life when some of the bests songs I have
ever written ( my own belief here) were
born. Here is a link to that movie.
Lastly, I have written a travel guide for musicians, touring groups and anyone that travels and rooms with other folks that is now in Kindle and ibooks in ebook form and also available in physical book form on the website here. It's called Obviously if you are reading this on my website, you know that we finally resolved the Forbidden Access problem. Big thanks go out to our Road Manager Mark Tester for his help in this. I would put up a pic of Mark , but I have to finish the background check to make sure he isn't some CIA plant. Pic coming soon, unless you don't hear from me, then he may have turned out to be CIA. But Mark is by far my favorite Lone Star.
Thanks Yall,
See ya down the road!!!
Dale
Hi Mi Amigo’s, As you see, I’m finally getting around to updating this site and hopefully stay better in touch with you all. A lot has been going on. The new record “ Carryin’ On This Way” is out and available online and in stores. I hope you all like it. There are a few re-recorded songs that longtime fans will recognize but I think you’ll agree the new versions are superior in quality and performance. Here you will see that I made the cover of this months CMP ( Country Music People) Magazine, Europes most successful country music magazine without a doubt. Thanks go out to those folks there , because I’m sure they know they could have thrown the Nashville faces on there and sold more, but they want to help our cause, so please buy one in support if at all possible. The band. It has some changes. Here they are: Fiddle: Kurt Baumer- I
have to thank my old friend and former Lone
Star Gene Kurtz for giving me the heads up
on Kurt and his amazing talent. He told me
that Kurt had to be the most in-tune fiddler
he ever heard and I have to agree. If you'd
like to check out some of his playing then
go to his website www.fiddletrax.com and
listen to some samples. Kurt will still
actively record for fiddletrax , so if you
have a project that could use some
outstanding fiddle, give him a holler. In the
meantime, come introduce yourselves to the
newest Lone Star as I have been bragging
about having the best fans in the world, and
I know it's true. Though he's only been in the band a short time, Kurt is by far my favorite Lone Star :) Drums: Mike Bernal , the first hispanic
Lone Star, from Lubbock Texas. He has played
with many folks here in Texas, one of my
favorite being Alan Haynes. You’ll here his playing on the next record. He has a great feel for my music and is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. He is without a doubt my favorite Lone Star in the Band. ![]() He has perfect pitch which has come in handy for him learning all the songs on my records and for when we make up songs on stage. I’ll say it again, he also is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. He is without a doubt my favorite Lone Star in the Band. The old guard, but still loved and appreciated........ ![]() It looks like there is no hope of early parole as he has consistently killed on every song we play. We Love Don-Don. He is without a doubt my favorite Lone Star in the Band. ![]() Band photos courtesy of David A Paulissen. |
